ZAM Science

Welcome
Hello all, and welcome to my blog.
This blog is intended as an outlet for my passion for animals and to share knowledge with others who also want to learn more about zoos, aquariums, and museums. While I am not an expert on the subject I hope that you will gain some insight on some of the topics that I will discuss in later posts.
I have been a passionate animal lover my whole life. As a child I have grown up around and working on farms in Hawaii and Missouri. I have lived in the woods and great lakes of Wisconsin, and with the beautiful horse ranches of Kentucky.
Currently I work as an engineering planner at Walt Disney World working on my Masters in Legal Studies. My goal is to get accepted into the Colorado State University's PSM in Zoo, Aquarium and Animal Shelter Management program, as well as to move up in my career here at Disney and work within our animal programs.
I plan on posting about the different aspect on designing, building and managing zoos, aquariums, and museums. Some of these topics will cover animal welfare, environmental sustainability, financial planning, and safety and emergency planning. I will be doing spotlight articles on different ZAMs, mostly here in Florida, but a few others from different states as well when I travel. I am also an avid reader and I will post book reviews on books that I find relevant to ZAMs. I also have a series dedicated to the different careers available at ZAMs, there are more than just zookeepers. Finally, I will post about volunteer opportunities and conservation efforts and how we can help as individuals.
If you head over to the gallery page you will find photos of animals that I have found around my home, out in the wild or in ZAMs. As you look around I am certain you will find interesting ideas and thought provoking questions, please reach out and share them so that we all may grow and learn together!
